Proportion of Skirt.

Introduction.
dot  To put on a skirt for a man can require a long research in the stores. That also requires to know some rules on the proportions. According to the dictionary, the word proportion means: "harmonious report/ratio of the parts between them and with the unit".

Ideal proportion of the human body.
dot  It is considered that ideally, a man measures 7 times and half the height of his head.

dot  Head (of the top to the chin) : 1 head
dot  bust (of the chin to the size) : 2 heads.
dot  basin (of the size to the crotch) : 1 head.
dot  Legs (of the crotch on the ground) : 3 heads.
dot  Foots : 1/2 head.
Proportion of the human body in the fashion drawing.
dot  For reasons of esthetics, the fashion drawing prefers longer figurines lengthened under the size.

In the fashion drawing, a man measures 8 times and half the height of his head.

Ideal proportion between naked part and clothed part.

dot  For the explanation of the ideal proportions, we will use figurines of height of 8 heads by forgetting the feet.If we divide this number 8 by the gold figure 1.618 we obtain the 5/3 proportion.

dot  The naked part of our body is opposed to the clothed part. This opposition create a visual relation. If this proportion respects the gold figure, it is harmonious.

dot  In this sketch, the dress represents 5 heads (bust: 2 + basin: 1 + legs: 2) while the naked part represents 3 heads (head: 1 + legs: 2). the proportion of the 5/3 is thus respected. If the dress went down to the top from the calves, we would have a less becoming proportion of 6/2 less close to the gold figure.

dot  If the dress went down to the top from the calves, we would have a less becoming proportion of 6/2 less close to the gold figure.

Ideal proportion of clothing between them.

dot  In the following sketch, clothing represents 5 heads (bust: 2 + basin: 1 + legs: 2) while the naked part represents 3 heads (head: 1 + legs: 2).

dot  The problem is to define the length of the jacket compared to the length of the skirt. If we divide this number 5 by the gold figure 1.618, we obtain 3/2 proportion.

dot  The jacket is worth 3 heads (bust: 2 + basin: 1) and the skirt 2 heads (legs: 2). We thus respect the gold ciffer.

Integrated silhouette.

dot  If we equip the naked part - by sticking, trousers, make-up, hairstyle, ... - the opposition between the naked part and the clothed part disappears. Visual contrast is founded only on differences of colours or texture. It will be then the relation of clothing between them which will have to be taken into account to determine the most harmonious proportion. Here are some examples:

dot  dark hairstyle + dark dress: 5 heads
dot  clear legs: 3 heads

dot  clear hairstyle + clear jacket: 5 heads
dot  dark skirt + dark stick + dark shoes : 3 heads

dot  dark hairstyle + dark sweet: 3 heads
dot  clear trousers + clear shoes: 5 heads

dot  clear hairstyle + clear sweet: 3 heads
dot  dark skirt + dark boots : 5 heads

I believe a man in a dress can be a rakish and extremely stylish look and that it takes fashion-forward trailblazers to help propel this look into the mainstream
